In 2001, residents of interior Washington County formed the Downeast Lakes Land Trust to protect the unique natural resources of the region. The trust is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Grand Lake Stream. Read more »
The Passamaquoddy Tribe owns nearly 200,000 acres of land in Maine. These lands are monitored and maintained by members of the Passamaquoddy Forestry Department. Read more »
Holeb has a recreational use dominated by the Moose River Bow Trip, long popular among canoeists and fishermen. Most of the shores on Attean and Holeb Ponds and a significant length of the Moose River including Holeb Falls lie within the unit's boundaries. Read more »
